Name Licensing Issues

Cyber Sphere may soon be undergoing a change of name. The possibility of change arises from a phone call placed by the webmaster to Ted Fritz, in the General Counsel's office at the University of Pittsburgh. When it was discovered that the domain name cybersphere.net and similar names had already been taken, the name PITTsphere was suggested as an alternative.

Site redesign continues

Changes are happening fast at the new CS website.
Most notable among these changes are the new PHP-based news article system, which dynamically displays the article that you click on from the news page, displaying a neat page like this one with the fullt fulltext of the article.
"The PHP-based system is great because it allows us to separate content from presentation. This makes the site much more user-friendly for the people working on updating the content, because all they have to do is make an entry into the appropriate database. The PHP scripts tell the browser how to display that content, and can be managed completely separately from the content, making everyone's lives easier," says Jeff Leitman, website designer for the Cyber Sphere project.

Web Site Redesign Underway

The Cyber Sphere website has long been overdue for a makeover. Jeff Leitman is responsible for giving the site its facelift.
"This is a long but exciting process," says Jeff. "There's a bit of a steep learning curve as I try to master MySQL, SQL, and PHP all at once. But I'm confident the new site will look great!"
You can view changes to the website at any point in time, by directing your browser to: the Cyber Sphere homepage.
