So, I sat down and watched Edgerunners over 2 days, and enjoyed it immensely.
I wanted to chat about it a bit with like-minded people, and figured you like-minded nerds might be my best option. I've also played through CP2077, the video game, and despite CDPR clearly robbing my personal tabletop CP2020 RPG campaign I wrote and ran years ago, enjoyed it very much despite it devolving into a GTA sort of shoot'em'up.
Without getting too deep into spoiler territory, both Lucy and Becca reminded me VERY much of some Cyberfucker characters I've interacted with over the years, which was fantastic (namely, I think, Becca ---> CF's Hiroshi if i remember correctly). I also really enjoyed the depiction of cyberware and cyberpsychosis. In particular, one of the main characters going off the deep end and asking a room full of shocked bystanders "Did I do that?" was pretty great, and reminescent of PLENTY of times either I've gone CP or interacted with a CP character in CS.
One of my least favorite parts of CDPR's CP2077 was the very boring and limited cyberware options, but in anime form...the writers went all out crazy with their imagination, which was fantastic. I loved all the crazy cyberware displayed in Edgerunners.
What did you guys think?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who connected Becca and Hoshi.

Hoshi! Thank you. Yeah, hard-core CF vibes from Becca, which was great.

Usually I'm not one for anime. Wasn't really into it growing up, not really into it now. I make an exception for Edgerunners.
Very well done, really tied into 2077 nicely, to the point where I thought I was playing for a second whenever the main character got a call, and it wasn't over the top with some of the more "annoying" aspects of anime.
The story was enough to keep you hitting next episode, and it reminded me of rolling a character on CS, falling in with a pack of chooms after they threaten to flatline you, and watching the eventual flare up and downward spiral.
Cyber psychosis was nice. I enjoyed how a main character just caught it out of nowhere by a cyber psycho.
Also enjoyed how it wasn't a totally super best friends group, but how some stayed loyal and others betrayed them.
Overall 9/10
Hopefully they do seasons following a different protagonist each time.

Becca was ride or die till the end. That was what made me love that character.
